General Resources

The George A. Smathers Libraries at the University offer many tools and resources for  faculty, staff and students. Here is a list of (and links to) some of the resources we offer. If there are questions, please contact the Libraries.

  • Course Reserves: Provides information about using the ARES course reserves system, including information on what materials can be placed on reserve, policies,  and contact information.
  • Databases: Browse the A-Z database list to locate a variety of citations and full text resources, including journal and newspaper articles, ebooks, images, and streaming media. For information on the major multidisciplinary databases, visit our Project Starter Databases page.
  • E-Books and Video: Search the library catalog for ebooks and media such as DVDs and streaming videos. In many cases, multiple students will be able to access digital books and streaming video simultaneously.
  • Subject Specialists and Guides:  Information on subject-related library resources and contact information for the subject specialists at the University of Florida Libraries
  • University of Florida Digital Collections: The University of Florida Digital Collections (UFDC) hosts more than 300 outstanding digital collections, containing over 8 million pages, covering over 78 thousand subjects in rare books, manuscripts, antique mapschildren’s literature, newspapers, theses and dissertations, data sets, photographs, oral histories, and more for permanent access and preservation.

  • Accessibility Services: Information on a number of special services to ensure access to library collections and services for individuals with physical disabilities.
  • Copyright Assistance: Extensive information on copyright and fair use as it pertains to instruction, author’s rights and much more.
  • Library Instruction/Workshops: Schedules and registration for library orientation workshops, and contact information for instruction coordinators.
  • One Button Studio: One Button Studio (OBS) bundles all the attractions of a professional recording studio – cutting-edge camera equipment, lighting, audio, and green screen option – in a self-service setup to quickly and easily record videos.
  • Research Data Management: A guide on resources available at the University of Florida and beyond on research data management. It includes information about tools for data management planning, data and file sharing, metadata and data standards, and data storage.
